As a steel structure project, Shougang ski jump platform has a maximum length of more than 160 meters, a width of more than 30 meters and a height of more than 60 meters. Various joint forms and welding positions make the operation complex and extremely difficult.

Q345B steel was used in the original design of the venue. In order to meet the fire protection requirements, q345frw steel with better fire resistance and weather resistance was finally selected. This brings a new problem: this kind of steel has no supporting welding materials at home and abroad. For Liu Hong, a national skill master and winner of the Chinese skill award, this is one of the most difficult problems to solve.

"This requires us to develop supporting welding materials and corresponding welding processes." Liu Hong said. Therefore, Shougang established a special research group. After a long time of research, it finally adopted the design idea of high Ni welding material composition and developed supporting welding materials such as welding wire and electrode by adding an appropriate amount of alloy elements, realizing the win-win of "improving high-temperature performance without affecting the toughness of weld metal". In this process, Liu Hong and her team have made a lot of efforts.

After completing the research and development of welding materials, Liu Hong put himself into the project construction without stopping. In order to complete the large platform jumping project with high standard and quality, Shougang has established a welder expert group to carry out pre job training for welders participating in the project and select the best ones.
